Facebook Pic of the Week: 29 June to 5 July 2015

We ran an open theme again for this particular week - so indeed #AnythingGoes was the hashtag.

We received some wonderful images, like we do every week, which makes selecting one to feature a tough task.

Dayne Braine shared this wonderful photo of a Greater Flamingo wading through an Etosha waterhole, with some African Elephants in the background. Check out his FACEBOOK PAGE for more of his work!

We hope you enjoyed this selection. Please do share our webpage with those who are also interested in the natural heritage of Africa!

Facebook Pic of the Week: 9 to 15 February 2015

Our theme on our Facebook Page for the week of 9 to 15 February was #ZebraZ - and we received a great variety of images of Africa's striped horses to peruse and share during this week.

The AFRICANature brand is about high quality imagery. You don't have to be a professional photographer to produce high quality imagery, but you need to know your equipment, know your subject and know how to process your photos properly.

This amazing altercation was photographed by Janet Zinn in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
You can view more of her work on her WEBSITE.

We are very happy with the standard of images being shared with the theme - but that also makes our choice as curators even harder.

This photo of a pair of endangered Painted Dogs playing in last light in Mana Pools, Zimbabwe, stole the show. It was taken by Carole Deschuymere - and you can check out her website here: www.carole-wildlife.com

Facebook Pic of the Week: 27 October to 3 November 2014

Our theme for this particular week was a goodie - #PowerPortraits. Our community members posted their powerful portraits of Africa's wildlife, birds and insects to the AFRICANature Facebook Page and we had a hard time choosing a favourite...

In the end, the low angle and high key processing on this elephant photo made it stand out. The photographer is Amanda Marais, and you can check out more of her work on her FACEBOOK PAGE.

Facebook Pic of the Week: 20 to 26 October 2014

Our theme for this particular week on the AFRICANature Facebook Page was #AnythingGoes - and as usual the standard of submissions was very high!

The weekly pic not only represents a beautifully crafted photo, it also represents a once-in-a-lifetime sighting for the photographer and an animal that many people will never get to see, both because of its location (Ethiopia) and its conservation status (Endangered). It's an Ethiopian Wolf, photographed in the highlands of said country by Keith Connelly. Check out his Facebook Page for more of his work!

Facebook Pic of the Week: 1 to 7 September 2014

It was all about Black and White photography last week on the AFRICANature Facebook Page! Our theme was #MonochromeMagic and we received some incredible submissions.

Our selection this week immediately stood out after scrolling through the submissions...it was taken by Devon Macrae. The textures, strong compositional lines and curves and overall story just make it a great photo, and it shows that eye contact isn't everything it's made out to be. You can see more of Devon's work on his website: www.devonmacrae.com
