Facebook Pic of the Week: 7 to 13 September 2015

Trawling through our 2015 archives on Facebook...

Our theme for this particular week was #whyiloveKenya and we asked our contributing photographers to showcase their best images from the wonderful land of Kenya. There were great photos of elephants in front of Kilimanjaro, and cheetahs in full chase, but this photo of a pride of lions lazily lounging on a log had to be featured.

Photo by Mohit Pise - you can see more of his photos on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

Facebook Pic of the Week: 13 to 19 April 2015

We had a special theme on Facebook during this particular week - all about Cheetahs...and the hashtag to use was #CharmingCheetahs.

We received some great high quality photos of Africa's fastest mammal - yet this moment captured by Daryl Dell stood out...the look of disdain on the cub's face as mommy is cleaning him just appeals to every parent out there! Check out more of his work on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

Facebook Pic of the Week: 25 to 31 August 2014

Hello fellow African nature fanatics! This specific week was an open theme on our Facebook Page - thus #AnythingGoes was the hashtag for the week.

We had some great images to wade through and our choice this week goes to the in-your-face quality of this leopard portrait captured by Anthony Goldman, a South African who lives in the USA. You can see more of his work on his WEBSITE

Facebook Pic of the Week: 14 to 20 April 2014

Well, we're running a tad behind with the weekly pic announcements, but don't fear - we will catch up in no time.

The week of 14 to 20 April 2014 was a week where anything was allowed (no specific theme, thus), and this stellar and eye-dropping photo stood out to us. It was taken by well-known legendary wildlife photographer Daryl Balfour. You can see more of his amazing work on his website: www.darylbalfour.com

GooglePlus Pic of the Week: 10 to 16 March 2014

Folks, our awesome theme is now live on Google+ as well, and you can find the official AFRICANature G+ page HERE.

Participation is coming along nicely - more or less on the same principles as on our Facebook page.

Our first pic of the week from G+ is from +Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos (you can go directly to his G+ profile through Blogger's intuitive integration with G+). His website can be accessed here: http://outtherephotos.com/

How lovely is this image of oryx/gemsbok from Namibia's Namib desert??

Facebook Pic of the Week: 10 to 16 March 2014

Alrighty then - here we go with last week's pic of the week from our Facebook Page.

There was no specific theme for this week, so all nature images posted during the week come into contention. We just love this stealthy and spooky image of a Kalahari leopard, photographed by Hendri Venter using a slow shutter panning technique.

You can see more of his amazing photography on his website: www.digitalwild.co.za

Facebook Pic of the Week: 20 to 26 January 2014

It's time for another backlogged post, folks. Thanks for bearing with us.

The theme for the week of 20 to 26 January was all about our African feathered friends - the birds. The theme name was "African Birdie", using the hashtag #AfricanBirdie.

Our pic of the week shows a normally shy and elusive (yet beautiful) bird - the African Green Pigeon - captured in Botswana by the talented young photographer from the Netherlands, Mees Kuiper. You can check out his 500px profile here: http://500px.com/MeesKuiper

Facebook Pic of the Week: 13 to 19 January 2014

Don't stress too much about these dates you are seeing in these posts - we are busy catching up on posting pics of the week from our Facebook page for 2014.

The week of 13 to 19 January had no specific theme - but this image stood out for us in any case...how cute can you get? The cuteness itself is complemented by a great low angle, good action frozen through the shutter speed and lovely light.

The photographer of this Meerkat moment is Wim Vorster. Check out his website here: www.wildwebafrica.com

Facebook Pic of the Week: 17 to 23 February 2014

Our theme for this particular week was "Love & Hate: African Affection or Anger in Nature" - and sharing was done using the hashtag #LoveHate.

For this selection - we chose 2 photos - our favourite shot showing affection, and our favourite shot showing anger.

Affection:
This photo is by Carole Deschuymere, and captures a wonderful moment between a honeymoon couple in the bush. You can see more of Carole's awesome wildlife photography on her webiste: www.carole-wildlife.com

This photo is the copyright of Carole Deschuymere and unauthorised use is prohibited.

Anger:
This photo is by Roel van Muiden, a field guide based in South Africa. It captures the rare interaction between the shy and elusive Brown Hyena and the more common Spotted Hyena. No love lost here! His website can be found here: www.rvmwildphoto.com

We hope you enjoyed this selection! Keep your eye on our blog to see whose images get selected next...
