Facebook Pic of the Week: 29 June to 5 July 2015

We ran an open theme again for this particular week - so indeed #AnythingGoes was the hashtag.

We received some wonderful images, like we do every week, which makes selecting one to feature a tough task.

Dayne Braine shared this wonderful photo of a Greater Flamingo wading through an Etosha waterhole, with some African Elephants in the background. Check out his FACEBOOK PAGE for more of his work!

Facebook Pic of the Week: 10 to 16 November 2014

During this week on our Facebook Page, it was an open theme again - #AnythingGoes

The AFRICANature brand is about high quality imagery. You don't have to be a professional photographer to produce high quality imagery, but you need to know your equipment, know your subject and know how to process your photos properly.

We are very happy with the standard of images being shared with the theme - but that also makes our choice as curators even harder.

This aerial photo of Giraffes in Namibia was a clear standout shot. It was taken by Jay Roode - and you can check out more of her fabulous aerial photography on her website: www.sky-hawk.co.za

GooglePlus Pic of the Week: 18 to 24 August 2014

We are starting to receive more and more high quality submissions to the #AFRICANature theme on Google+ and it's making it harder and harder to pick weekly selections!

This hauntingly beautiful image of the Namib desert evokes a sense of peace and quiet in you, no matter where you are when you view it. It was taken by +Sandy Schepis. Check out her website for more of her work: www.sandyschepis.com

Thanks again to everyone who is starting to contribute to the AFRICANature theme on G+. Remember to tag your quality African wildlife and landscape photos on G+ with the hashtag #AFRICANature and also tag the +AFRICANature page so we can consider your work for resharing and a possible feature here on the blog.

AFRICANature Curators Spotlight: Grobler du Preez

Last week we told you more about Rudi Hulshof who is one of the curators on our Facebook Page. This week, we shift the focus to Google+ where we have a different team of curators managing the content being featured by the +AFRICANature page.

+Grobler du Preez is first up. A wildlife and wedding photographer based in Bloemfontein, South Africa (although he's a native of Windhoek in Namibia), Grobler is a selfless community builder who's been an immense help with establishing wildlife photography communities and photo themes on G+ since the social media site's beta launch.

Check out the following links for Grobler's work:

Facebook Pic of the Week: 3 to 9 February 2014

Well, it's about high time we start putting some updates on this blog. For those of you who follow the AFRICANature Facebook Page, thanks so much for your support and photo contributions. Without you, the page is dead!

We had a THEME for the week of 3 - 9 February 2014, and the theme was "Landscapes of Africa", using the hashtag #ScenicAfrica on Facebook.

Our pick of the week comes from Jay and Jan Roode, whose aerial photography is on display at www.skyhawkphotography.com - if you've never checked out their work, make sure you do!

This photo shows the arid landscape of northern Namibia - the flow of the ephemeral (seasonal) Kuiseb river. Seeing Africa from the air surely gives you a wonderful perspective!
