Facebook Pic of the Week: 13 to 19 July 2015

We had an open theme for the week of 13-19 July 2015, and so our #AnythingGoes hashtag produced some great imagery as always.

This hippo emerging with loads of energy from the water was shared by Keith Connelly. You can head over to his WEBSITE for more of his quality photos.

Facebook Pic of the Week: 15 to 21 June 2015

Our theme on Facebook for the week of 15 to 21 June 2015 was all about elephants, and we used the hashtag #Trunkated - we like to be quirky and punny like that.

We received some wonderful images, like we do every week, which makes selecting one to feature a tough task.

This lovely photo of an elephant enjoying a bath in the Chobe river that separates Botswana from Namibia was taken by Corlette Wessels. You can see more of her photography on her WEBSITE.

Facebook Pic of the Week: 2 to 8 March 2015

Our theme for this week on our Facebook Page was #WeirdandWonderful - and we asked our community to share the lesser-known species of Africa with us.

The AFRICANature brand is about high quality imagery. You don't have to be a professional photographer to produce high quality imagery, but you need to know your equipment, know your subject and know how to process your photos properly.

This in-your-face photo was taken from an underground hide in Botswana by Ruth Nussbaum. Check out her Facebook Page for more of her work!

Janet Zinn has been on a roll - as she took the featured spot two weeks ago as well.
How could we not feature this RARELY seen and photographed wetlands antelope, the Sitatunga ("Water Kudu"). You can view more of her work on her WEBSITE.

GooglePlus Pic of the Week: 10 to 16 November 2014

The images keep rolling in - it's an honour for us to represent some of the finest talent on the internet when it comes to showcasing photography of Africa's natural heritage.

This week it's time for the birds to feature. This lovely photo of a Great White Pelican in front of a sea of flamingos from Lake Nakuru (Kenya) was shared by +Winston Mitchell

The AFRICANature brand is about high quality imagery. You don't have to be a professional photographer to produce high quality imagery, but you need to know your equipment, know your subject and know how to process your photos properly.

We are very happy with the standard of images being shared with the theme - but that also makes our choice as curators even harder.

This dramatic image of a Nile Crocodile flinging its prey was taken in the Kruger National Park in South Africa by +Angelika Ritter

GooglePlus Pic of the Week: 4 to 10 August 2014

Last week we featured a landscape photo, and in an attempt to break away from stereotypical "big 5" features, here's a lovely bird photo - a weaver from +Jaco Marx! He captured this photo at the exciting new photographic reserve near Mkuze in South Africa - Zimanga Private Game Reserve.

Jaco is a dentist from South Africa - you can check out more of his work on his website: www.marxphoto.co.za

Facebook Pic of the Week: 21 to 27 July 2014

The theme for this specific week on our Facebook Page was all about those lumpy Hippopotamus. The hashtag was #HippieHippos (just cause it's quirky) and we received (as usual) a great deal of high quality photographic submissions.

One image stood head and shoulders above the rest for its creativity and poignancy...
The photographer is James Campbell - and you can see more of his work on his website:
www.jacroc.com

The use of slow shutter speed and monochrome has created a wonderful visual treat here. Well done, James!

Facebook Pic of the Week: 19 to 25 May 2014

Good day, friends! Our theme for the week of 19 to 25 May 2014 was all about water - "Aqua Zone". Our community shared wonderful images showing in some way or another Africa's bodies of water and the animals and birds that congregate around them. The hashtag to view the images was #AquaZone.

This photo by Mike Muizebelt really stood out to us. It shows a Pied Kingfisher hovering over a river in the Kruger National Park, with the sun reflected off the surface in beautiful blotches of bokeh! Based in the Netherlands, you can see more of Mike's photography on his website: www.mmfoto.nl
